Pass with flying colours
Von: Helena EngelkeAfter a long preparation time the big moment finally came: on May 9th and 10th Lisbeth Sattler-Möller, Ronny Engelke and Jean-Jacques Greuter successfully took the 2nd dan examination. It was part of a 2-days seminar at the Ki-Aikido Dojo in Stuttgart with Sensei Bruno Maule (7th Dan) from Italy, who was very pleased with all examinees and stressed their high level of performance.
Besides the three aikidokas from Haigerloch Leonard Rolle from Stuttgart took the 2nd dan and Frank Apel, also from Stuttgart, took 1st dan examination.
Not only for moral support but also to perform as ukemi an unusual crowd of aikidokas from Haigerloch attended the seminar. Numerous ukemi are necessary as the 2nd dan examination includes over 44 techniques, motion sequences with jo and bokken and “randori”, the art to defend oneself against many - for the 2nd dan - four attacker.
Since this is rather exhausting, Sensei Bruno Maule left it to the three examinees to decide whether they would perform the 1st dan exam as well, as it is common, or stay with the 2nd dan program. Jean-Jacques then decided to join Leonard and to perform the 1st dan as well.
On May 29th the three fresh nidan eventually got to celebrate their beautiful exams.
During the aikido summer-party on June 21st it will also be possible for “non-aikidokas” to enjoy the martial arts as the dojo in Haigerloch, from beginner to dan, will present various skills.
